Prof. Dr. Dirgha J. Ghimire

Dr. Ghimire is a social demographer who earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research focuses on social change, family and demography, population and environment dynamics, and research methods. His interest in understanding social change and its impact on family life grew out of his experience working on development projects aimed at improving the lives of the poorest communities in Nepal. Methodologically, he emphasizes the development of context-specific measures, as well as advanced primary data collection and longitudinal analysis.
